Updates

Well, I thought that I'd update my blog with some updates on the kids. I'm going to start with Susanna tonight and try to do one a week.

Susanna

Susanna is getting ready for kindergarten. She cannot wait to go to school. I was a little worried about deciding whether to start her this year or next year. Her birthday is the actual cut-off date. But, I'm so glad that we waited. She is so much fun to have at home and so much help. She actually wants a broom for her birthday. No, I'm not kidding. They have these really cute ones at Target and she has been begging for one. What a dream! I think that I may have to break down and get her one. Last year, when I picked Susanna up from preschool, they would be finishing up their recess while I was in the car line. By the way, I love to watch them when they think I'm not. You always want to know how they act when we're not around. Well, Susanna would always do whatever this other little girl told her to do. She would follow her around to no end. Not this year... Susanna seems to be a little on the bossy side with her friends. I'm praying that she'll use that to become a leader one day.

One other story... Some of the people in our small group on Tuesday were asking us if we saw the picture of Susanna in the church office. I had never seen it. They said that it was a picture of Susanna singing with her eyes closed looking up with her hands raised. They all said that it was such a great picture and that she looks so sincere. Today, several other people asked me about it. My Mom said it gave her the chills. I've got to see it soon. A long time ago, when our family was on vacation with some friends from Texas, I remember us all singing some worship songs. As we were singing, Luke and Susanna both kept raising their hands. I kept thinking to myself,"what are they doing?" This was when they were 3 and 1 and a half. Virginia, our friend, reassured me that they did know what they were doing. She reminded me that God created us to worship Him and children are born with that in them. They only learn as they are older to consider what others around them think and not worship so freely. They all always want to clap, dance, raise their hands. I want to frame that picture of Susanna. I think that it would be a great reminder to keep my focus on raising them to what is important. I so easily get distracted with the day to day things and lose sight of the big picture. That picture is the big picture. Here's some of my reminders: Matthew 19:14,Psalm 71:6,Psalm 63:4, and Psalm 134:2.

Back to Susanna... She's getting her dreaded booster shot this week. She has been so vocal in her opposition to this that Luke said that he thinks he'll just stay 3.

Susanna is so girly. She loves purses. She changes them out all the time to match her outfits. She will even tell you that she collects purses and shoes. I'm not this prissy. I really think that she gets this from her Aunt Katie, the fashion guru. As you can see from the picture, she never sets down her purse. She is always worried that one of her brothers will get into it. HA!

that picture makes me want to cry tears of joy for how free we are in Christ. I just asked Chris and he saud he will ask to borrow the picture and bring it home for you to make a copy on Monday.
